Alright, This New Full Trailer for JUSTICE LEAGUE Is Pretty Damn Cool!

The past few days Warner Bros. has been leading up to the new full trailer for Justice League with brief little character promo spots and posters. That trailer has finally landed online and I hate that it’s so damn awesome because now I’m actually really excited about the movie!

Warner Bros. always puts together great trailers for their films to get fans pumped up. The Man of Steel and Batman v Superman trailers were all really great and exciting, but as you know, the films ended up disappointing a lot of fans.

That being said, it’s ok to be excited about movies! We can’t help if we like what we see, and watching the Justice League team come together and fight alongside each other in this trailer is incredibly cool! Especially Aquaman riding on the Batmobile while Batman is racing into the heat of battle!

Will the film be good? That has yet to be determined, but it certainly looks like it’s going to be a blast! I also just want to point out that Superman isn’t in the trailer. I have a feeling that’s a reveal that will be held off on until the movie is actually released.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash -— it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17th, now watch the trailer and tell us what you think!

Scientists say that getting cancer is mostly just bad luck

Without a cure in sight, cancer has become one of society’s biggest concerns. The fear of getting it is enough for many people to change their lifestyles in dramatic and meaningful ways, and even though it’s increasingly possible to beat the disease, it remains one of the biggest universal health worries. As it turns out, all that anxiety may be for naught, as new research suggests that getting cancer is more about bad luck than lifestyle factors, though it’s still possible to lessen your overall chances.

Science has historically kept its distance when it comes to estimating the number of cancers that are caused by any particular factor, and what cases of the disease would have happened regardless of outside influence. Johns Hopkins University scientists published a new study in the journal Science that does exactly what researchers have avoided doing for ages, and the figures may come as a bit of a surprise.

The team sought to pinpoint the cause of the genetic mutations that cause cancer, and determine what influenced the outcome. Shockingly, the data suggests that a full 66% of the mutations that eventually result in cancer are completely random errors in the DNA, with no direct cause. Environmental factors — like smoking, pollution, and all the other things we think of as being triggers for the disease — account for about 29% of cancers. The last 5% are thought to be inherited.

The scientists explain that DNA mutations normally don’t occur in genes with cancer-causing ability, and therefor don’t have any negative consequences. When mutations randomly occur in certain genes, however, cancer may result, and most of the time it’s simply “bad luck.”

New HAN SOLO Movie Details Reveal His Real Name Might Not Be Han Solo… Wait, What!?

Thanks to Disney CEO Bob Iger, we’ve learned some new details about the Han Solo film that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are currently in production on.

We learn that the film will follow Han from the ages of 18 to 24-years-old. It will follow his adventures of how he acquired the Millennium Falcon and met Chewbacca. Lando obviously plays a big role in Solo’s life. This is what Iger told a group of students at a special USC lecture:

“That picks up with Han Solo when he was 18 years old and takes him through when he was 24. There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo’s life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film.

Most of that is pretty obvious stuff, but the one most surprising comment is when Iger dropped this bit of information:

“But you will also discover how he got his name.”

That seems to indicate that Han Solo’s real name isn’t Han Solo! But Iger could also mean we could discover how he made his name in the smuggling trade? I don’t know, but if Han’s literal real name turns out to be Han Skywalker, I quit.

It just seems really weird that after all these years of thinking Han Solo’s name was really Han Solo, that’s all going to change. If he did end up changing his name to Han Solo, I assume his original given name is pretty lame, something like Delbert Dumbbutt. I have mixed feeling about this whole Han Solo name thing. Don’t come in here and tell me that Han Solo’s name really isn’t Han Solo!

On a side note, we also learn from Woody Harrelson that he’ll be playing Han’s mentor in the film and that his name is Beckett. Maybe he’s the guy who teaches Han how to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. I hope that’s in the movie! I’ve always wanted to see him do that!

Regardless of the name, I’m still excited about the movie. Han Solo has such a mysterious past, and I’m excited to see these earlier stories of the character play out on the big screen!

The untitled Han Solo film opens in theaters on May 25, 2018.

Samsung might offer a Galaxy S8 promotion that we’ve never seen before

A new report from Korea says that Samsung may be considering a bold marketing move for the upcoming Galaxy S8: unconditional refunds after up to three months of use.

That’s certainly unusual for any product, and especially an Android smartphone. In the three months that will follow the Galaxy S8’s launch, various other Android handsets will hit stores. An unconditional money-back guarantee may convince some buyers to ditch the Galaxy S8 and go for something else. Not to mention that, if you buy a Galaxy S8 this summer with this money-back guarantee, you’d be able to switch to the iPhone 8 in fall without taking any losses on the Galaxy S8.

The concept, first reported by Chosun Biz, according to The Investor, would address two concerns. First of all, the Bixby assistant will launch in a limited form on the Galaxy S8. Samsung is expected to release a software upgrade in the first half of the year, that will bring more functionality to the new AI assistant.

Moreover, the extended money-back guarantee is meant to prove Samsung’s confidence in the phone’s quality. The Galaxy S8 is going to be the first major smartphone launch for Samsung, following the Galaxy Note 7 disaster.

The report doesn’t say whether Samsung would offer such a perk to all its international buyers, or whether it’s a local marketing trick for the Korean market.

However, The Investor does say that such a refund program for the Galaxy S8 would be tricky for Samsung. Not only would it have to find a way to handle the returned phones, but Samsung would also have to worry about the incoming iPhone 8.

Slow Wi-Fi could be completely eliminated by gigabit infrared light

Much as Wi-Fi is a marvel of modern technology, it also still really stinks. Two decades of development in, and we still can’t consistently beam Netflix across a house in a consistent fashion. The standard for Wi-Fi is improving, sure, but one group of researchers thinks it should be replaced altogether.

A PhD student in the Netherlands has come up with the concept to use infrared light for data transmission. The concept makes sense in physics terms, as light is more capable of transmitting high-speed data than the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio waves currently used.

Light has been posited before as a replacement for Wi-Fi, but visible light rather than infra-red. That had slower speeds, more interference, and a requirement to keep your lights turned on all the time. Infrared antenna radiate light at different angles, which means you’ll get coverage in more rooms (although, it also means you need an antenna in each room).

There are still obvious flaws, mostly to do with wiring each room in a house up for an antenna, but as a compliment for Wi-Fi, it would make sense. An infrared transmitter that powers your laptop and game console, and then a Wi-Fi network for more portable devices with less data needs would make sense.

Stephen King Shares the First Movie Poster For THE DARK TOWER

Stephen King has released the first poster for the upcoming feature film adaptation of The Dark Tower. I’ve been waiting for this film for years and I’m happy and excited that we are finally getting a movie! I hope it ends up being great and I hope that the filmmakers involved get to realize their full vision for the film adaptation, which will include a total of three films and two TV series. I imagine it all hinges on if this first film does well or not.

The poster came with the following caption from King, “Pilgrim, there are other worlds than these. Come with us on the adventure.” I love the poster design as it features the image of the tower in the upside down New York City, which isn’t really New York City. If you’re familiar with the books, you know this is Lud, which is a post-apocalyptic city in Mid-World that is similar to NYC. You have Roland and Jake at the bottom of the poster and you’ve got the Man in Black walking upside down on the top.

We’ve already seen a few photos from the film featuring Idris Elba as The Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, and Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black. There was even a trailer that leaked online but was never officially released. I loved what I saw in the trailer, and I imagine we will see an officially released trailer soon.

The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum.  It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.

The film is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) and has a supporting cast that includes Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Tirana; Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) as Pimli, the right hand man of Randall Flagg; Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen); Katheryn Winnick (Vikings) and Claudia Kiim (Avengers: Age of Ultron).

The Dark Tower hits theaters this summer on July 28. To catch up on all of our Dark Tower news, click here.

Someone ported ‘Pokemon Yellow’ to the Apple Watch

Because the emulation community won’t rest until the original Pokemon games have been ported to every electronic device on the planet, Pokemon Yellow is now playable on the Apple Watch.

On Friday, iOS software developer Gabriel O’Flaherty-Chan released a Game Boy Color emulator for Apple’s wearable device. O’Flaherty-Chan was initially underwhelmed with the amount of content available for the Apple Watch, so after making his own 3D game a few months ago, he began work on an emulator.

“The result is a surprisingly usable emulator which I’m calling Giovanni after the super-villain from my favourite Game Boy game, Pokemon Yellow,” O’Flaherty-Chan explains in a blog post. “Ironically, I’ve only ever played the game on an emulator, as growing up I didn’t have access to the real deal. In a way, I feel this is my way of giving back to the community.”

He goes on to discuss some of the challenges he ran into while designing the emulator, including the balance he had to strike between framerate and performance. After all, he wanted the game to look good running on the watch, but he didn’t want it to sacrifice playability just to make it look better.

While this is certainly a fun proof of concept, you might be wondering how you can actually play a game like Pokemon Yellow on a watch. This was another one of the major hurdles that O’Flaherty-Chan had to overcome, using virtually every square inch of the display — as well as the crown — for the controls.

“I’m anticipating revisiting the project once watchOS4/next generation Apple Watches are out, just to see if there are any opportunities to get a higher framerate,” O’Flaherty-Chan says at the end of the post.

Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum and Sylvester Stallone Play Key Roles in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

We’ve known for awhile now already that Sylvester Stallone will have a part to play in the story for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We now have new details on his role and we’ve also learned that Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum will also be in the film and each of the actors will play “very important” characters from the Marvel Universe.

Gunn was recently a guest on The Adam Carolla Show and that’s where he made the big teasing reveal, saying:

“We do have a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe who are going to make their debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which people don’t know about. Sylvester Stallone plays one of these characters…my friend Michael Rosenbaum also has a pretty decent movie in the role as well and it sort of works in tandem with Sly’s character.”

I have absolutely no idea who these characters could be and if they will play a part in any other the other upcoming MCU films. Whoever they are, it seems like they will be working together in some way.

It’s pretty cool to learn that Rosenbaum will be in the movie, though! That guy is easily one of my favorite versions of Lex Luther. He was just so awesome in that role! I can’t wait to see who he’s playing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

It’s been previously rumored that Stallone could be Nova Corps member, but it might be more than that. Do you have any theories on who Stallone and Rosenbaum could be playing?

The Nintendo Switch has four new games you should go download right now

The Nintendo Switch eShop expanded once again on Thursday as four new games arrive for the two-week-old console. These four games join the nine launch games and the eight games added last week to bring the total number of games on the US Switch eShop over 20. That said, many are just new to Switch.

The highlight of the week is The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ ($39.99), an enhanced version of the popular dungeon-crawler with 13 playable characters, over 600 items to collect, more than 180 enemies to battle with and over 11,000 unique room configurations to explore. This is the definitive version of the game.

In addition to hitting the eShop, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is also available at retail stores. Every “launch edition” box of The Binding of Isaac contains a physical copy of the game as well as two free sticker sheets, an Isaac sticker and reversible cover art. It also has a 20-page, full color instruction booklet with information about the game, tips for playing and never-before-seen artwork.

The three other games on the eShop this week are all from developer Tomorrow Corporation: Human Resource Machine ($9.99), Little Inferno ($9.99) and World of Goo ($9.99). These three games have been available for other consoles in the past, but World of Goo and Little Inferno have new cooperative local multiplayer modes. Good news for those looking to play more games with friends and family.
