Someone ported ‘Pokemon Yellow’ to the Apple Watch

Because the emulation community won’t rest until the original Pokemon games have been ported to every electronic device on the planet, Pokemon Yellow is now playable on the Apple Watch.

On Friday, iOS software developer Gabriel O’Flaherty-Chan released a Game Boy Color emulator for Apple’s wearable device. O’Flaherty-Chan was initially underwhelmed with the amount of content available for the Apple Watch, so after making his own 3D game a few months ago, he began work on an emulator.

“The result is a surprisingly usable emulator which I’m calling Giovanni after the super-villain from my favourite Game Boy game, Pokemon Yellow,” O’Flaherty-Chan explains in a blog post. “Ironically, I’ve only ever played the game on an emulator, as growing up I didn’t have access to the real deal. In a way, I feel this is my way of giving back to the community.”

He goes on to discuss some of the challenges he ran into while designing the emulator, including the balance he had to strike between framerate and performance. After all, he wanted the game to look good running on the watch, but he didn’t want it to sacrifice playability just to make it look better.

While this is certainly a fun proof of concept, you might be wondering how you can actually play a game like Pokemon Yellow on a watch. This was another one of the major hurdles that O’Flaherty-Chan had to overcome, using virtually every square inch of the display — as well as the crown — for the controls.

“I’m anticipating revisiting the project once watchOS4/next generation Apple Watches are out, just to see if there are any opportunities to get a higher framerate,” O’Flaherty-Chan says at the end of the post.

Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum and Sylvester Stallone Play Key Roles in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2

We’ve known for awhile now already that Sylvester Stallone will have a part to play in the story for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We now have new details on his role and we’ve also learned that Smallville star Michael Rosenbaum will also be in the film and each of the actors will play “very important” characters from the Marvel Universe.

Gunn was recently a guest on The Adam Carolla Show and that’s where he made the big teasing reveal, saying:

“We do have a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe who are going to make their debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which people don’t know about. Sylvester Stallone plays one of these characters…my friend Michael Rosenbaum also has a pretty decent movie in the role as well and it sort of works in tandem with Sly’s character.”

I have absolutely no idea who these characters could be and if they will play a part in any other the other upcoming MCU films. Whoever they are, it seems like they will be working together in some way.

It’s pretty cool to learn that Rosenbaum will be in the movie, though! That guy is easily one of my favorite versions of Lex Luther. He was just so awesome in that role! I can’t wait to see who he’s playing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

It’s been previously rumored that Stallone could be Nova Corps member, but it might be more than that. Do you have any theories on who Stallone and Rosenbaum could be playing?

The Nintendo Switch has four new games you should go download right now

The Nintendo Switch eShop expanded once again on Thursday as four new games arrive for the two-week-old console. These four games join the nine launch games and the eight games added last week to bring the total number of games on the US Switch eShop over 20. That said, many are just new to Switch.

The highlight of the week is The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ ($39.99), an enhanced version of the popular dungeon-crawler with 13 playable characters, over 600 items to collect, more than 180 enemies to battle with and over 11,000 unique room configurations to explore. This is the definitive version of the game.

In addition to hitting the eShop, The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is also available at retail stores. Every “launch edition” box of The Binding of Isaac contains a physical copy of the game as well as two free sticker sheets, an Isaac sticker and reversible cover art. It also has a 20-page, full color instruction booklet with information about the game, tips for playing and never-before-seen artwork.

The three other games on the eShop this week are all from developer Tomorrow Corporation: Human Resource Machine ($9.99), Little Inferno ($9.99) and World of Goo ($9.99). These three games have been available for other consoles in the past, but World of Goo and Little Inferno have new cooperative local multiplayer modes. Good news for those looking to play more games with friends and family.

James Gunn Confirms GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Will Happen

We haven’t even seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yet, but the fans already know that they’re going to want to see more of these characters! After the Guardians team up with the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War, it looks like we’ll see the team of misfits join up again for another adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The news comes from director James Gunn himself in an interview with Complex. When asked if there were any plans for a third film, he said:

“There will be a Guardians 3, that’s for sure. We’re trying to figure it out. I’m trying to figure out what I want to do really, that’s all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing.

“You know, I’m going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I’m just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks.”

I imagine that after Vol. 2 is released, Gunn will be able to direct a non-Guardians film if he wanted to before he jumps back in for a third chapter of the franchise. It might be good for him. The fact of the matter is, he’ll have the time to do both if he wanted to. When previously asked if he would come back to direct a Vol. 3, he said:

“Right now I really am just concerned with doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I’m not sure what I’m going to do after this… Marvel has talked to me about continuing on. I’m not sure if that’s what I want to do or if that’s not what I want to do. I really just want to make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 the greatest possible movie that I can, and something that’s as honest and sincere and true as it can possibly be.”

It’s hard to believe that Gunn wouldn’t be back to write and direct Vol. 3, he just loves these character too much to pass them off to another director at this point. While we wait to see what Gunn does next, and before I even think about what a third Guardians of the Galaxy film will even entail, we still have to watch Vol. 2

It’s comforting to know that there are plans in place to bring them back after Infinity War.

Find every item, weapon and shrine in ‘Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ with this map

If you read our review of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you know that it’s one of the best games of the year and an incredible launch title for the Nintendo Switch. What you might not know is where to find all the shrines, weapons, side quests and Korok Seeds in the game’s absolutely massive open world, but this interactive map on Zelda Maps will help you find each and every secret that the game is hiding.

There are 30 different categories to cycle between on Zelda Maps, including memories, sets of armor, Sheikah Towers, Great Fairies, stables and even cracked walls that Link can blow up with bombs.

While there are dozens of locations already included on the map, several categories are clearly still under construction. For example, other than Korok Seeds, most of the options in the “items” category are empty, including food, herbs and mushrooms. Items (especially items used in cooking) are absolutely everywhere in Breath of the Wild, so it makes sense that this category would take some time to complete.

There’s a lot of work to be done before every point of interest and item will be present on the map, but if you’re tired of running around Hyrule looking for something to do, use this map to navigate your way to a Korok Seed or an undiscovered shrine. Also, if you log in with an account, you can right click on the map to add your own marker, just in case you find something that hasn’t been added.

Selection Sunday 2017: How to watch the March Madness bracket selection show

Championship Week has officially come to a close, and we’re just minutes away from the unveiling of the bracket for the 2017 edition of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, aka March Madness.

Known as Selection Sunday, today is the day that the Division I men’s basketball committee evaluates all 340+ college basketball teams to determine which have earned a spot in the tournament. According to the NCAA, the committee first selects the 36 best at-large teams, then seeds the field of 68 teams and finally places the teams into the bracket, which is what we’re all tuning in for at 5:30 pm ET tonight.

If you want to watch the selection show live tonight, you have a few options. If you’re near a TV, you can simply watch the show on CBS, where it will be broadcast nationally. On the other hand, if you don’t have cable or would rather watch on a computer, you can visit this site to stream the show live for free.

Those who prefer to watch on their phones and tablets can watch the show on the NCAA March Madness Live app, which is available for both iOS and Android. If you plan on keeping track of the scores and streaming the games throughout the week, you’re going to want to have this app on all of your mobile devices.

The selection show will be hosted by Greg Gumbel, who will be joined by analysts Clark Kellogg and Seth Davis in New York. Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith will chime in with commentary of their own as well from Atlanta during the broadcast. While last year’s show was over 2 hours long, the network claims that this year’s rendition will be condensed to 90 minutes.

While most of us will be waiting for the show to finish to begin working on our brackets, you can get a head start by printing out a blank bracket now and filling it in as the show progresses on Sunday night.

Alfred Hitchcock Talks His Love of Fear in Classic Animated Interview

If you’re looking for an expert on the world of horror, you won’t find much better than Alfred Hitchcock. While this interview is over 40 years old, it seems not a lot of Horror directors today have heard it. In the interview, Hitchcock says that audiences love “toe in the water,” fear with a resolve. He mentions people’s love of roller coasters and how we love to scare ourselves riding them while simultaneously blocking out that a slight malfunction could mean our instantaneous deaths. He also references one of his past films where he learned the hard way what happens when you introduce fear with resolve, and how it was a mistake in his filmmaking. Fascinating stuff to hear from a legend in the genre.

Apple still destroys all other PC makers in one important way

It’s been a lackluster few years for Apple’s Mac lineup. The iconic MacBook Air has been put out to pasture, the new MacBook Pro distinctly underwhelmed creative types, and I can’t even remember the last time anyone said anything about the Mac Pro. In the meantime, Chromebooks are taking off, and even Microsoft has started to do interesting things again.

But hardware aside, there’s still something that Apple does far better than competition: customer service. According to Laptop Mag’s Tech Support Showdown list, Apple headily beats the competition for the quickest and best customer service of any major manufacturer.

The rankings are produced by real-world testing, where Laptop Mag gets editors to try the phone and live chat support features of each manufacturer. They get a grade based on the speed of support and quality of information, which feeds into an overall score.

Apple won the test outright, with an overall 93/100 and an average call time of just six minutes. Laptop Mag said that “Apple offers the best tech support in the business, year after year. The company’s website and mobile app are loaded with helpful, step-by-step tutorials and, whether you reach them via phone or live chat, support reps are knowledgeable and friendly. Apple also answered Twitter messages quickly and accurately.”

The only real complaint was an occasional lack of knowledge about new features. That’s to be expected, especially given that Apple’s reps are responsible for supporting more than just hardware.

Acer, a company that’s long had a reputation for poor support, actually moved into second place in this year’s test, with a score of 88. Lenovo and Microsoft were next, while Asus, Samsung and MSI round out the bottom.

It’s not as easy as blanket-comparing specs, but knowing how good a company’s tech support is can make or break a product experience. I’ve ended up contacting support for almost every laptop I’ve ever owned, and the result can be the difference between your problem being fixed in an afternoon, or being without a laptop for weeks after sending it for service.

DEADPOOL 2 Casts ATLANTA Star Zazie Beetz as Domino

A recent casting call described Domino like this:

Neena is a no-nonsense badass who rarely shows her feeling. Highly capable, supremely confident and armored in… well ARMOR… and bullet-proof sarcasm. But beneath her shell she’s still and vulnerable and some soft, beating remnant of her humanity remains intact.

I’m a big fan of Zeetz’s work on Atlanta, and I’m excited to see her have the opportunity to step up in a huge movie like this. Recent rumors pegged Moonlight and Hidden Figures star Janelle Monae as the frontrunner for the part, but that obviously didn’t end up being the truth. Zeetz beat out reported contenders ranging from Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Sofia Boutella to Lizzy Caplan and Ruby Rose, with many others in between. Deadpool 2 debuted a short film before Logan, and will arrive in theaters sometime in 2018.
